For years, the Tucson Fall Shows have been a staple for the southwest horse community, but in August of 2023, they were set to be canceled. The loss of more affordable, accessible local A rated shows is happening across the country and is having a detrimental effect on the greater horse community. To keep showing accessible and to continue the tradition of the Tucson Fall Shows, a local management group has stepped forward to save the shows. Thanks to an outpouring of support from the Arizona and New Mexico communities, the management group is working to organize and modernize the shows. In addition to stepping forward to prevent the shows from being canceled, the new management has partnered with the Tucson-based nonprofit Steady Strides Riding Center to support their mission to create an inclusive, accessible, and supportive community of horseback riders, and to eliminate the barriers — including physical, mental, and financial — that prevent people from participating in riding and equine-related activities. Proceeds from the Tucson Fall Shows will go to SSRC’s programs and services. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
